The main point of this illustration is to demonstrate the idea of perception. To prove this point, in the drawing, it shows a man facing a particular object, and of what the brain and the eyes see. To explain further, the brain may see a piece of broccoli, or an explosion from a bomb, which is true because the idea of thinking proves its existence, an irrefutable truth. Although the eyes may follow authority and tradition and see a tree, which is debatable. This image also relates to irrefutable truths, because of the minds multiple interpretations and the unlimited thinking of what the object may be. Existentialism according to Descartes is that thinking proves your existence, if you think, you exist. It relates to perceiving vs perception because perceiving is the truth, as where you think it is the truth knowing it exist, and perception is debatable because you don't know that it is the truth.
