To be an American, means that you permanently live in the United States of America. For example, if you were born in Mexico and move to the United States, permanently, you deserve the right to call yourself an American, same of course, if you were born here in the United States. I believe that "the American life" is being able to live as an American who has rights and can live "free", although, not being above the law. I think that a lot of people view the American life of being free and wild, because of what they see in the media, and because there are some places in the world where people are unable to live the American life. To add on to what "the American life" is, I believe it also consist of democracy and having the country being run by its people. Also, consist of being able to live how you want, if you are an adult, without someone or something telling you what to what you can or cannot do, even though what you do can have consequences. Being an American also means to stand up for what you believe, and being one community. To be an American is to be whatever and whoever you want despite the color of your skin, sexual preference, and gender. It also means to love your country, to work for what you want and have moral vales. Americans have the characteristics of bravery, hard work, integrity, honesty, and respect.
